11. CONTEMPT AND SEDITIOUS LIBEL

Article 331 of the Penal Code stipulates imprisonment of six months to two years or a fine for contempt of a public official. In domestic usage, this would include any word or deed that causes humiliation, discredit or irreverence toward an official. It can come about through lack of respect, slanderous or libelous words, acts of violence, physical aggression, obscene gestures, shouting, etc.
