THE PRESS A Dominican legislator in 1997 introduced a bill to amend the
current press law so as to increase sanctions imposed for ?press
crimes.? The bill met strong criticism from all sectors and was
withdrawn in full. A bill currently being drafted is designed to deal with the
issue of access to public information.
