19. ANTITRUST LAWS LIMITING CAPITAL
CONCENTRATION IN THE PRINT MEDIA
There is no specific legislation for print media.
The Constitution in Article 50, Paragraph 2, states: ?Every
commercial or industrial organization in trusteeship shall be under
the state comptroller.?
There is, though, legislation governing radio and television:
Decree-Law 14,670 of June 27, 1977, and its enabling legislation
prohibit a person from having full or partial ownership of more
than two frequencies in each of the three broadcast bands; neither
may he be full or partial owner of more than three frequencies in
total in the three bands (AM, FM, TV).
