IAPA elects new slate of officers for 2001-02

MIAMI, Florida (October 24, 2001) -The new president of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), Robert J. Cox, today announced the new officers of the hemisphere free-press organization who will work with him during his term of office ending in October 2002.

Cox, assistant editor of The Post and Courier, Charleston, South Carolina, was elected president during the IAPA's 57th General Assembly held recently in Washington, D.C. He succeeds Danilo Arbilla, editor of the Montevideo, Uruguay, news weekly Búsqueda.

Cox will be joined in his term of office by 1st Vice President Andrés García Gamboa, Novedades de Quintana Roo, Cancún, México and by the 2nd. Vice President Jack Fuller, Tribune Publishing Company.
