CONTEMPT AND SEDITIOUS LIBEL
The
coverage of criminal and civil trials is governed by the criminal
code and by the common law of contempt of court. Any act or statement
which tends to interfere with or scandalize the administration of
justice is contempt of court. Generally, this means that coverage
of a trial is circumscribed and opinion is suspended when the jury
is sitting.
