The statutes in force are the Press Law, No. 29 of 1944, and
its regulatory decree 109 of 1944, which were implemented by Law
159 of 1959. Many of the articles of Law 29 of 1944 have been repealed
by special legislation. Those still in effect are: Preliminary issues;
requisites for printing and circulation of printed matter; provisions
on newspapers, retractions and clarifications.
