17. REGULATION OF OWNERSHIP AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS OF PUBLICATIONS

Art. 2 of Law 3162 of 1962, Expression and Propagation of Ideas, requires that all published writings, with the exception of small printing jobs, carry the name and address of the printer. However, if the printer requires the approval of other printers or technical firms, the name and address of any one of them suffices.

Art. 3, however, establishes that every newspaper or periodical may be published without prior approval after a declaration has been delivered to the Ministry of Interior, per Art. 6.

An editor must be identified and that person has to be Dominican, per Arts. 5 and 6 of said law. If the daily does not register, Art. 9 establishes that it may not continue to publish.
