9. OTHER RESTRICTIONS ON THE CONTENT
OF INFORMATION
According to Art. 817 of the Family Code, the names of minors
shall remain confidential when they are involved in criminal proceedings,
and their identity shall not be divulged (clause 7). This same statute
establishes equal guarantees for minors in Art. 530.
The 1983 Electoral Code contains some restrictions concerning
electoral advertising in the media. Publication and propagation
of political polls are prohibited during the last ten calendar days
prior to the date of the elections (Art. 178). They may be published
or disseminated three hours after the voting is closed (Art. 179).
Public demonstrations and all types of political propaganda
through loudspeakers and in social communcation media are prohibited
from 12 midnight of the Friday before elections through 12 noon
of the day after they have taken place (Art. 248).
