19. ANTITRUST LAWS LIMITING CAPITAL
CONCENTRATION IN THE PRINT MEDIA
There is no anti-trust law.
The National Constitution, in Article 107 (Paragraph 2) says:
?Market competition is guaranteed. The creation of monopolies and
artificial price increases and reductions that obstruct free competition
shall not be permitted.?
The broadcast law stipulates that an owner may not have more
than one company offering the same service.
Each concession holder shall have the right to a license to
operate a radio station and/or a television station (Article 7,
Nbr. 1.1, Decree 26,504/63).
