The Code of Ethics of the College of Journalists of Peru is mandatory only for its members.

There is also the Code of Ethics for the Peruvian Radio Broadcasting System, which was approved on July 15, 1994. Among other aspects, it states that:

2. Private broadcasting, radio and television, are means of expression based on freedom, free enterprise, the freedom of competition, and self-regulation, within the democratic framework.

3. Fundamental regulations: The following are operational norms that must be obeyed by all the broadcasting media:

a)  Agreement of a Minute: establishes a limit of one (1) minute for information on terrorist violence.

Article 27 of the Telecommunications Law orders the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transportation, Communications, Housing and Construction to reach an agreement with the representative entities of the broadcasting media, for the establishment of a code of ethics and conduct, calling for programming that supports the formative principles that uphold human dignity.
