Reports and Resolutions

HONDURAS
Report to the Midyear Meeting
Quito, Ecuador

There have been no serious events to the detriment of freedom of the press during this period.

On taking office January 27, the new president Manuel Zelaya participated in an IAPA forum where he signed the Declaration of Chapultepec.

Court trials that have direct or indirect bearing on freedom of expression continue in a normal fashion, and these court cases will definitively have outcomes considered in line with the law.

In the National Congress, bills regarding free access to public information are now pending to be discussed and approved. These bills have generated controversy in different sectors of the society.
