The event will take place at the Hilton Santo Domingo Hotel in the Dominican Republic July 18-20, 2007.

Join Supreme Court chief justices and members and representatives of organizations that defend and promote press freedom and freedom of expression. They, along with leading journalists from the Americas, will examine viable ways to reduce the impunity surrounding crimes against journalists.

The Hemisphere Conference will begin on July 18 with a dinner hosted by President Leonel Fernández and will wind up at midday on July 20 with the reading of the conference’s Declaration of Principles.

Among keynote presentations will be “Freedom of Expression in Inter-American Human Rights Court Case Law,” by the president of that Court, Sergio García Ramírez, as well as panel discussions on the experiences of judges concerning crimes against journalists going unpunished.

To participate all you need to do is send the attached registration form to our headquarters in Miami ([email protected]). There is no registration fee. To obtain the preferential hotel room rates that we have arranged for this special occasion, please send the attached reservation form directly to the hotel by June 11, 2007.
