In 2001 he was a member of the Oaxaca Group, promoter of the Law on
Access to Public Information in Mexico. He is coauthor of the The
Untouchables (Planeta, 2009); Violence and Media (Insyde, 2005), Political
Representation and decision making (FIDAC, 2004), Communication and
Transparency of the branches of government (FIDAC, 2003) and Zócalo Rojo
(Editorial Océano, 1982).

Between 2007 and 2010 he published in El Universal of Mexico and other
dailies the weekly column Open Records. He has also authored the political
columns Republic and Politics (1989-1993) and Counterpoint (2002-2003).
He received a scholarship from the Ford Foundation in 1990 and the Miguel
Alemán Foundation and conducted journalistic work for the Baltimore Sun in
Washington D.C. His career in the newspaper El Universal of Mexico
extended from 1979 until 2013 when he began construction of the Silla Rota
Group that develops print and digital publishing products.
