the Paraguayan government has upheld its repeated declarations in favor of press freedom, despite the fact that some public officials and politicians occaSionally manifest negative attitudes toward this freedom
the Paraguayan government, despite its deciarations in favor of press freedom, has not taken any step to repeal article 323 of the electoral code, which obliges the media to give free space to political parties during electoral campaigns, although requested to do so by the IAPA Board of Directors at its
Midyear Meeting in Managua, Nicaragua, in March 1990
the legislature is considering some bills concerning radio and television broadcasting
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to encourage the Paraguayan government in its support for press freedom, and to urge it not to establish any direct or indirect legal mechanisms to restrict such freedom
to urge the Paraguayan government to repeal article 323 of the Paraguayan electoral code.
