According to the investigation conducted in Colombia by the IAPA’s Rapid Response Unit (RRU), in 2003, there were 99 cases of journalists killed, 51 related to their work in journalism, 16 had unknown motives, and 32 were murdered for reasons unrelated to their profession.

also shows that official investigations rarely mention the masterminds of the
crimes.
